This Saturday the Ports travel the short distance to Lakeview Park to take on Loughgall in the opening fixture of 2019/20 Bluefin Sport Championship. After a solid Pre-Season that seen the Ports play in a total of 10 games, they will be hoping to hit the ground running against local rivals Loughgall.
Loughgall will come into the game looking to get off the a good start as well, in a repeat of last seasons opening game the Villagers earned a 1-1 draw with Gary Liggett opening the scoring for the home side before an equaliser from the head of Adam Salley. The second meeting of the two was the Boxing Day fixture where Loughgall took a lead in front of a huge home crowd through Steven Ferguson but two late goals from Jamie Douglas earned the Ports a dramatic win.
Loughgall has signed a number of experienced players this summer including ex Ports Jamie Douglas, Fra Brennan, Lee Upton & Jordan Lyttle as well as Richard Copeland & Graeme Taylor returning to Lakeview Park. Other ex Ports within the squad are Nathaniel Ferris, Peter Campbell & David McCullough so both teams will know each other well in what promises to be another great match up.
