This Friday evening Portadown u20s will take part in the Guffer Vennard Memorial friendly against Hanover Reserves. Brownstown Park will host the matchup that begins at 7pm as Ports young guns continue their Pre Season programme ahead of their campaign as they aim to retain their league title crown once again.

Ports u20s Coach, Neil McCullough commented:

Guffer was a legend in so many ways, he brought young people together and famous footballers into our community such as George Best, Ally McCoist, Jimmy Nicholl, Norman Whiteside, Sammy Mcilroy, Willie Henderson, Ian Durrant and many more. All these players loved Guffer and many a story was told in their company so tomorrow night I look upon it as an honour to be involved in a Memorial match for the bigman, Guffer was a one off who give the people of Portadown so many memories and it would be great to see people turn out in large numbers to honour this true legend

Make sure to get out to support the young Ports but also in memory of a local man that is still held so dear in tbe hearts of many.
