We are delighted and proud to welcome world renowned & award winning carpet manufacturing company Ulster Carpets back into the Portadown Football Club family as Match Sponsors for this Saturdays (7 Sept) Bluefin Sport Championship game against Dundela at Shamrock Park.
Ulster Carpets was established in 1938 by George Walter Wilson in Portadown and have long held a reputation for the highest quality and most luxurious carpets in the market place. Although a global player in the world of carpet the business remains family owned and generations of skilled local craftsmen and women have proudly woven Ulster carpet at the original Castleisland site in Portadown which to this day remains their headquarters.
A winner of the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2006 & the first company in Northern Ireland and the first textile manufacturer in the UK to be awarded the Carbon Standard Award the company celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2013 and a year later opened a Middle East office in Dubai. The next few years were to bring further milestones for Ulster Carpets as HRH The Prince of Wales & HRH The Duchess of Cornwall visited for a tour of their Portadown headquarters in May 2016, bespoke Ulster axminster carpet being included in a £90 million refurbishment of the Queen Mary 2 in 2017 and finally celebrating their 80th anniversary in 2018.
Portadown and Ulster Carpets are no strangers to each other with Ulster Carpets being the club’s primary shirt sponsor from 1993 until 1996 which included being part of our Budweiser Cup triumph in 1994/95 as well as our League Cup, Ulster Cup and Premier League title success in 1995/96.
We’re delighted to welcome them back to Shamrock Park, this is what Director of Football Peter Hunniford had to say:
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Ulster Carpets to Shamrock Park this Saturday as our main match day sponsors and are also proud to welcome them into our ever growing Business Partners Club, it is very pleasing to see them supporting our club once again.”
