Portadown Football Club were delighted to receive a substantial donation from WE ARE PORTS this month towards new gym equipment to assist club physio Chris Loughran with the rehab of injured players.
The equipment purchased by WE ARE PORTS includes a Spin Bike, Cross Trainer, Treadmill, Weights Bench & TRX Bands and means that players can now be rehabbed by Chris ‘in house’ at Shamrock Park.
Portadown Manager Matthew Tipton gave his comments on the new equipment:
We are already seeing the benefit of the new gym equipment that was kindly bought by WE ARE PORTS. We’ve had a couple of slight knocks and strains over the last two weeks and with the equipment at the ground now it enables Chris Loughran to put in place a rehab program that he can supervise with the players that might not be 100% able to take part on the pitch.
In addition to that, having the equipment on site means that it can be used as part of our warm up and activation process to prevent injuries.
WE ARE PORTS Chairman Dave Wiggins also spoke to us about why members felt this was a worthwhile cause to donate to and support:
I was delighted that members of WE ARE PORTS voted overwhelmingly to release funds towards the purchase of gym equipment to aid with player recovery within Portadown Football Club.
It shows that there is a real willingness off the pitch combined with the positive results on the pitch to move the club forward and help support the promotion push.
The supporters are the life blood of this football club and over 100 of us make up the membership of WAP, contributing financially to all sorts of things during each season.
The manager, coaching staff and medical team have all said how pleased they were at now having this equipment and we hope that we have played a small part in the team’s success this season.
Club Physio Chris Loughran also gave his views on the new equipement when he spoke to #WeArePortsTV
As always everyone at Portadown Football Club wish to put on record our thanks once again to the members of WE ARE PORTS for their generosity and support.
