Portadown are back in Bluefin Sport Championship action this Saturday (7 December 19) when we face managerless Ards at Shamrock Park (Kick off 3pm)
Ports manager Matthew Tipton has informed the club’s media team that Greg Hall has had a scan and visited a surgeon who has advised us that it’s looking like a two month recovery process with Greg now starting his active recovery work with club physio Chris Loughran so we can only hope all goes well and we see him in the New Year back on the pitch.
Elsewhere Chris Lavery has had a back spasm so we will need to check how that’s settled down while Ryan Carmichael has been laid up with the bug that’s going around so will be touch and go for Saturday.
Adam McCallum is only now doing full contact work so is still a little bit away from fitness but hopefully he gets minutes in the next reserve game which is next Saturday (14th December). Poggy Robinson has his boot off and is doing weight bearing exercises with Chris Loughran but is still some way from being able to join in training.
Finally Marty Bradley is being monitored and assessed daily as his knee tendon problem comes and goes so it’s just a case of seeing what way he settles after a few weeks rest.
Ards, who many tipped as title challengers this season, have had a poor Bluefin Championship season to date following their relegation from the Danske Bank Premiership and have only won back to back league games once so far this campaign and only have 4 league victories in their past 12 games.
So far this season Ards have only taken maximum points off any of the other top five Championship clubs once (against Ballinamallard) with only 5 points picked up from them out of the 18 available.
Last time out in the Bluefin Sport Championship Portadown drew 1-1 away to Dundela while Ards lost 3-2 at home to basement club Knockbreda.
