Portadown Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of 23 year old forward Ruairi Croskery on a two year contract.

Croskery from Castlewellan, joins the club after spending the last 3 years on a scholarship at Limestone University in South Carolina, USA where he played for Limestone College in the NCAA D2 Soccer Championship. While at Limestone Ruairi was selected for the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament team in 2019 and in 2017 was named as the Conference Carolinas Tournament Most Outstanding player.

Prior to his move to America Ruairi was at Manchester United from the age of 14 to 18 where he played alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay before returning home to Linfield in 2016 and then joining current Ports manager Matthew Tipton at Warrenpoint Town in their Championship winning season of 2016/17.

Another exciting youthful signing by Ports boss Tipton as he continues to add to his already talented squad at Shamrock Park and here’s what he had to say about it:

“I’m delighted to get Ruairi signed. He’s someone I worked with at Warrenpoint before he went to America on a football scholarship 3 years ago. We’ve stayed in touch over that time & I’m surprised he didn’t block my number with me constantly asking when he was coming home to sign for us. Ruairi has the ability to play in any of the forward positions & offers us something completely different to what we have now in terms of style of play. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him but I think he’s a player our fans will get excited about & one our players will enjoy playing with.”
