Portadown Football Club is delighted to announce that Sam Glenfield and Reece Jordan have both signed 3 year professional contracts with the club.

Glenfield, 16, made his senior league debut last season at the age of 15 years and 167 days when the young forward replaced Chris Lavery during the 3-0 defeat Premiership defeat to Coleraine in October 2020. Sam would go on to make a further two substitute appearances during last season and was recently named in a Northern Ireland’s Under-17 men’s team squad for a training camp in August.

Reece Jordan, also 16, made his senior bow against Dungannon Swifts in May 2021 as a late substitute for Sam Warde, the teenage defender would go on to play the full 90 minutes in the final game of the Premiership campaign against Ballymena United.

This is what Portadown manager Matthew Tipton had to say on the duo’s new professional deals

Both Sam & Reece have been training with us consistently since about Christmas time last season & have shown great attitude & ability since then. Both made their debuts last season as u16 players & were sent away at the end of the season with the promise that they were very much in our plans for this coming season but they would need to push themselves to improve over the summer break. What was most pleasing with both of them is they followed our programming & came back to us in the top few on our testing. After that it was a case of seeing how well they started on the football front & both have exceeded our expectations so far. This is very much the start for both of these young players but one we all have high hopes.

Both players will be looking to make the breakthrough to first team squad regulars this season and will be vying for a place in the manager’s squad for the opening Danske Bank Premiership game of the 2021/22 campaign on Friday 27th August against Glenavon at Shamrock Park.
