Portadown Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Northern Ireland youth international Eoin Teggart.
The 19-year-old winger joins Portadown following a three year spell at English League One side Portsmouth who he joined as a scholar at the of 16 in 2018. The talented winger had previously spent two years at Cliftonville where he played for their Under 15s and 16s before jumping straight up to the U18s and also had a brief spell with Glentoran after enjoying an impressive youth career with Ridgeway Rovers and Ballynahinch Youth.
During his time at Fratton Park Eoin would be part of the Portsmouth U18 & U23 squads and would also go on to make two first team appearances – his senior Portsmouth debut coming in September 2019 were he produced an eye-catching performance as Pompey beat Norwich Under-21s 3-1 at Fratton Park in the EFL trophy and his second first-team appearance a year later, also in the EFL Trophy, against West Ham Under-21s.
Eoin would return to Cliftonville on loan in January 2021 after spending the first part of 20/21 on-loan with Southern League side Gosport Borough before being released by Portsmouth in June 2021 following a overhaul of their academy structure.
The Ballynahich native has also represented Northern Ireland at Under-19 and Under-17 level as well as being part of the County Down side that reached the SuperCupNI Premier final in 2018.
Here’s what Portadown manager Matthew Tipton had to say on Eoin’s arrival at Shamrock Park
For those that are unfamiliar with Eoin he is a left winger who has been training with us for a month or so. I’ve known Eoin for a long time having coached him as a young player for a few years prior to him moving to Portsmouth. He’s a direct winger who likes to beat his man & get crosses into the box as well as getting plenty of shots away.
