Portadown are back in Danske Bank Premiership action this Saturday (Sat 26 Nov) when we face Larne at Shamrock Park, kick off 3pm.

Larne come into the game following a 3-1 defeat to Coleraine last Friday evening while Portadown were beaten 4-2 by Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.

The last time the two teams met was in September with Larne running out 3-2 winners at Shamrock Park with goals from Dean Jarvis, Mark Randall and Lee Lynch – Ruairi Croskery and Greg Hall were on target for the Ports.

Portadown manager Matthew Tipton had the following to say

After the disappointment of last week it’s now time to turn our attention to Larne tomorrow. What the past 6 days have done is given me time to reflect on what we have been doing over the past month & what has brought us our best performances in the past especially in games against the teams in the top half of the table & the big thing that comes back to me is when everyone is together in everything we do then we perform better. This sounds easy when I’m typing it up but sometimes in football it’s not as easy as that. Whilst I’m loathe to blame injuries & illnesses on our poor performance last week we only had 6 fit players to train on the Tuesday night & 9 on Thursday so our preparation went totally out of the window in the manner we like to be organised. This week we have had the lads together for 3 nights with Monday being a video session to remind the players what we do well & also what happens when we all aren’t together.

Hopefully we will have a few of those that struggled last week through Illness & injury nearer to 100% tomorrow so that we can put in a better performance.

I must finish by wishing our youth team & coaches all the very best for their Harry Cavan cup game v Glentoran tomorrow. (Kernan at 1330)
