Portadown FC are delighted that Professional terms have been agreed with exciting goalkeeping prospect Ronan Burns. The 16 year old, Rathfriland native has been with the Ports since he was 10 years old and his performances have impressed the coaching staff around the club so much that they have made the move sign him up to a professional contract.
Portadown Goalkeeper Coach, Simon Hunter, had the following to say about Ronan:
I first coached Ronan in the lead up to the Super Cup in 2018 & it was evident even at the under 13 age group he had great potential to progress. Since then Ronan has continued to work very hard behind the scenes to develop his ability & this work ethic along with his undoubted talent gives him a great platform to continue his progression. This contract is a recognition of that & I look forward to continuing to work with Ronan.
Portadown Head of Development, Peter Mullan, commented:
Ronan is another good young player to emerge and progress from within our own youth development ranks. It is always encouraging for both our aspiring young players and their coaches across the club to see that hard work and dedication over the long-term are key components of success.
