Portadown are back at Shamrock Park tomorrow (Sat9 April) as we take on Warrenpoint Town in the Danske Bank Premiership, kick off 3pm.

Warrenpoint Town come into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Linfield Saturday week ago while Portadown were beaten 2-0 by Cliftonville at Shamrock Park on Tuesday evening.

The last time the two clubs met was back in February with the Ports running out 1-0 winners at Shamrock Park thanks to a Harry Anderson strike, this was Portadown’s third victory against Warrenpoint Town this season.

Warrenpoint Town have a decent record over Portadown with eight wins in their last thirteen games however Portadown have four victories in their last five Premiership meetings against Barry Gray’s men, Warrenpoint Town also won on both their Premiership visits to Shamrock Park last season and have won on six of their last seven visits to Shamrock Park. Before the 1-0 victory at Shamrock Park in February the last Ports home victory over Warrenpoint Town came back in August 2015 with Keith O’Hara and Gary Twigg on target for Ronnie McFall’s men in a 2-1 win.

Warrenpoint Town will be missing manager Barry Gray from their dugout tomorrow as he begins a 2 match ban for words exchanged with the officials in the defeat to Linfield. The ‘Point have lost their last 7 Premiership matches in a row and have only picked up 3 Premiership victories all season, against Carrick Rangers x2 & Ballymena United on the opening day, they’ve only picked up 1 Premiership win since 27 November.

Ports striker Adam Salley has a great goalscoring record against Warrenpoint Town with five in his last six against the ‘Point, Ports fans will be hoping he keeps up that form tomorrow.

Portadown manager Paul Doolin had the following to say ahead of tomorrows game

It’s the start of the split and I think if you look at table now compared to where we started when I came in I think if offered 1 point off 10th position we’d have taken it, we’d have liked to have got a result on Tuesday against Cliftonville but their a decent team and have good players.

We look forward to tomorrows game against Warrenpoint Town, a tough game, and with all the teams in the bottom 6 playing each other everyone will believe they can get results and we’re no different.

The officials are – Referee – Christopher Morrison | Assistant 1 – Kristian Hanna | Assistant 2 – Brian Wilson | 4th official – Peter McGrath
