It’s BetMcLean League Cup business for Portadown this evening (Tues 4 October) when they face Dungannon Swifts in the last 16 of the competition at Stangmore Park, kick off 7:45pm.

In Premiership matters Portadown come into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw with Glenavon at Shamrock Park on Friday evening while Dungannon Swifts were beaten 1-0 by Linfield at Stangmore Park on Saturday

The last time the two sides met was just over a week and a half ago with Dungannon Swifts picking up their first Premiership points of the season with a 2-0 win at Stangmore Park thanks to a 21 second Rhyss Campbell goal with Ryan Mayse adding a second from the penalty spot early in the second half.

Portadown have reached this stage of the League Cup by beating Armagh City 5-0 at Shamrock Park while Dungannon Swifts beat Queens University 3-0 at Stangmore Park.

Portadown last won the League Cup in 2009 as a Championship club with a 1-0 win over Newry City from the Premiership thanks to a Gary McCutcheon goal and have lifted the trophy on two occasions, while Dungannon Swifts were League Cup winners in 2017/18 to secure their first and only senior trophy since their formation in 1949.

Portadown are without a win against Dungannon Swifts in their last five games, conceding thirteen goals during that period.
