Portadown are back in Danske Bank Premiership action tomorrow afternoon (Sat 22 October) when they take on Crusaders at Seaview, kick off 3pm.
Crusaders come into the game on the back of a 3-2 victory over Glenavon last Saturday while Portadown were beaten 3-1 by Newry City AFC at Shamrock Park.
The last time the two clubs met was back in August this year with 10 man Crusaders running out 2-1 winners at Seaview, Portadown had taken the lead through a first half Jordan Jenkins penalty which also saw Crues defender Josh Robinson sent off for the challenge that resulted in the spot kick, however Stephen Baxter’s men recovered to take all 3 points with strikes from Philip Lowry & Johnny McMurray.
Crusaders come into the game in good league form with only 1 defeat in their last 8 while the Ports are still on the hunt for their first 3 points of the season with our last Premiership victory coming back on 19 March 2022 against Coleraine – for our last Premiership victory on the road you have to go back to December 2021 and a win at Milltown against Warrenpoint Town.
Crusaders have won 11 out of the last 13 meetings between the two clubs in all competitions with Paul Heatley scoring 6 in his last 7 appearances for Crusaders against the Ports while Philip Lowry has 4 in his last 5 games against Portadown at Seaview. For the Ports last victory over the men from the Shore Road you have to go back to the opening day of the 2015/16 season when two Darren Murray goals sealed all 3 points for Ronnie McFall’s men at Seaview.
The last six fixtures between Portadown and Crusaders have been on a Tuesday evening with tomorrow afternoons game being the first Saturday 3pm kick between the sides since December 2020.
Finally, and unfortunately for the Ports, Crusaders scoring record against Portadown at Seaview makes for grim reading for PFC – 27 goals in their last nine games against Portadown at Seaview dating back to March 2014.
