Portadown Football Club can announce that Steven Hyndes is to join the club’s first team staff where he will assume the role of first team coach.

The former Glenavon, Crusaders, Armagh City & Loughgall winger should be no stranger to supporters at Shamrock Park as alongside Dean Crowe he managed the Portadown U20s team between 2020 and 2022. Prior to that he had a very successful spell at the helm of local Mid-Ulster intermediate side Hanover, guiding them to four trophies in his five years in charge – the Mid Ulster Intermediate ‘A’ title, Bob Radcliffe Cup and two Premier Cup successes.

Steven will join Clifford Adams, John McAllister & Simon Hunter as part of new Portadown manager Niall Currie’s backroom team with Currie making the following comment on the introduction of Hyndes to his coaching staff

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome back Steven, he’s a long-time friend who I trust with everything. His knowledge will be an unbelievable bonus to me, Cliffy and John but more importantly it’s about surrounding myself with what I want and he’s someone I wanted since I came back to the club and we’re delighted to have him on board – a proper Portadown man!
