Portadown are back in Danske Bank Premiership action this evening (Tues 8 November) when we take on Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena, kick off 7:45pm.
Carrick Rangers are coming off the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Coleraine on Saturday while the Ports went down 3-0 to Linfield at Shamrock Park.
Carrick Rangers have had a steady start to the season and have impressive home victories over Linfield and Crusaders as Stuart King, who added Curtis Allen, Andy Mitchell (on loan from Larne) and Aodhan Gillen to his squad over the summer, looks to build on last seasons 10th place finish.
The last time the two clubs met was back in April with Carrick Rangers running out 5-0 winners at Shamrock Park against a second string Ports XI who had eyes on their upcoming promotion/relegation playoff against Annagh United.
The last time the clubs met at the Loughview Leisure Arena was in March 2022 in a 2-2 draw. Portadown had taken a 2-0 half time lead thanks to goals from Michael Ruddy and Adam Salley before Carrick Rangers hit back with second half goals from Steven Gordon and Reece Glendinning, Carrick actually had Jordan Gibson sent off at 2-0 down early in the second half in a moment that strangely seemed to turn the match in the favour of the 10 men.
Portadown have a wretched recent record at the Loughshore Hotel Arena losing seven of the last eight with our last victory in Carrickfergus coming back in April 2016 when a last gasp Garry Breen strike went a long way to securing our Premiership safety that season. There have been 18 goals between the two sides in the last four games at the Loughview Leisure Arena, unfortunately though Portadown have only scored six of those with the other twelve coming from Carrick Rangers.
This evenings game against Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena will just be pay at the gate with no tickets required. The game will be segregated and Carrick have requested Portadown supporters use the away turnstiles on Prince William Way for access to the stadium. Parking is available at the turnstiles for cars and buses.
