Portadown are back in Danske Bank Premiership action tomorrow (Sat 12 November) when we face Larne at Shamrock Park, kick off 3pm.

Larne come into the game sitting at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership after a 4-0 victory over Dungannon Swifts last time out while Portadown were beaten 2-0 by Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena on Tuesday evening.

The last time the two sides met was back in September with Larne winning 1-0 at Shamrock Park thanks to a first half Paul O’Neill goal.

Larne duo Lee Bonis and Leroy Millar come into the game in tremendous form with Bonis scoring 7 goals in his last 5 Premiership games while Millar has 4 in his last 6.

Portadown manager Niall Currie gives his thoughts on the game

Obviously tomorrow is going to be a massive ask for us to get anything, but without belief you have nothing.

We had a great performance against a top Linfield team which really could and should of been built on for our game on Tuesday night against Carrick Rangers, that was a huge disappointment, as I said to the players, it’s not about the defeat it’s about the manner of it and I felt we didn’t apply ourselves anywhere near the same way as we had on the Saturday.

We have to try and get some consistency into the team in regards to performance for sure, and we know we will have to be at our very best to even compete with this very strong Larne team, as I’ve said all my career, the least I expect is heart, desire, belief and enthusiasm, that was missing on Tuesday night, but will have to be here on Saturday for sure.

We have had long chats with the players trying to get through to them how big this town is and how important this football club is to them, it should be an honour to walk out on Shamrock Park for players in my opinion and we will strive to get that through to the players every week, we have to believe we can get something from every game we play but we have to learn without hard work it won’t happen.

We will get things going right here, I know that, but we need the boys fully on board to get this club out of this mess for sure.

With more families and community / youth groups visiting Shamrock Park on match days, the club has decided to re-launch our FAMILY AND COMMUNITY AREA.

BLOCK B in the home stand has been designated as this area, a traditionally slightly quieter block and further away from opposition supporters.

We recognise that football matches are noisy and passionate experiences for players and fans alike but we would also like children, families and community visitors of mixed abilities and needs to feel comfortable when they visit a match, for some, their very first football match.

Guidelines for supporters sitting in Block B will be clearly displayed at the front of that area and we encourage all patrons in the block to follow them:

  • PLEASE BE AWARE OF THOSE AROUND YOU.
  • PLEASE USE APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE.
  • BE POSITIVE TOWARDS PEOPLE ON THE PITCH.
