Portadown are back in Danske Bank Premiership action tomorrow afternoon (Sat 19 November) when we take on Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena, kick off 3pm.

Carrick Rangers are coming off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Newry City AFC last Saturday evening while the Ports went down 5-0 to Larne at Shamrock Park.

It’s only been 11 days since the clubs last met, a 2-0 win for Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena on Tuesday 8 November thanks to goals from Cameron Stewart and Emmett McGuckin.

Portadown have a wretched recent record at the Loughshore Hotel Arena losing eight of the last nine with our last victory in Carrickfergus coming back in April 2016 when a last gasp Garry Breen strike went a long way to securing our Premiership safety that season. There have been 20 goals between the two sides in the last five games at the Loughview Leisure Arena, unfortunately though Portadown have only scored six of those with the other fourteen coming from Carrick Rangers.

Portadown manager Niall Currie had the below preview for supporters

Obviously tomorrow is another massive game for our club, we have now got a good idea of what we are dealing with and got to know the players as quickly as we possibly could.

We know what’s ahead, it isn’t complicated, Carrick Rangers bullied us the last time we were there and it’s time to stand up as far as I’m concerned.

We know there’ll be long diagonal, long throws, everything into our box as quickly as possible, first and second balls. We have the players well rehearsed on what’s ahead, and now we have to go down there with balls, and a lot more than we showed the last time.

We have the capability to do this if the minds are right and as far as I’m concerned this is an opportunity. We have to grasp these things, and that’s what we’re trying to get in our players mindsets.
