Portadown are back in Danske Bank Premiership action this Saturday (14 Jan) when we travel to the Showgrounds to take on Coleraine, kick off 3pm.

Coleraine come into the game following a 2-1 victory over Newry City AFC in midweek and are now 10 games unbeaten in league and cup and have only suffered 1 defeat in their last 14 games. The Ports come into the game following a 2-0 victory over Banbridge Town in the Irish Cup.

The last meeting between the two clubs was back in October 2022 with Coleraine running out 4-0 winners at the Showgrounds thanks to goals from Paddy McNally OG, Lee Lynch, Matthew Shevlin and James McLaughlin.

Portadown’s victory over Coleraine back in March last season was their first win over the Bannsiders since 2016, for a victory at the Showgrounds however you’ve to go all the way back to New Years Day 2015 and a 1-0 win thanks to a Mark McAllister header. Coleraine have won 11 of the last 14 (one of these being an automatic 3-0 win) Premiership meetings between the sides.

Ports manager Niall Currie will have new signing Benny Igiehon available for selection following his move from Dundela last night.

Portadown Manager Niall Currie gives us his thoughts on the game below

Bar Josh Archer who is struggling with flu and Cathair Friel who is unavailable due to his loan agreement we should have everyone available for the game.

With Jordan Jenkins returning to Glentoran and Igor on loan at Knockbreda we’re still trying to squeeze that other striker in if we possibly can but I doubt we’ll get it done and over the line for the weekend.

Hopefully Josh (Archer) is ok to start, we’re looking forward to the game and are playing decent with a nice run of form and a great atmosphere around the place at the minute so we’ll go the Showgrounds with a positive mindset and give it everything we have against a top top side.

The officials are – Referee – Steven Gregg  / Assistant 1 – Stephen Bell  / Assistant 2 – Gavin Hegarty  / 4th official – Tim Marshall
