We were absolutely delighted with the uptake of our ‘Year 10 & Under’ free promotion for the Mid Ulster Derby on Saturday evening past.
It was obviously a highly anticipated match between two local rivals, with a later kick off, however there were lots of new faces at Shamrock Park, including many more families, women and young people in the stands which was very encouraging for our manager, coaches and players.
We have since received lots of great feedback from our supporters including this Facebook comment, ‘Our two girls went to their first ever football match and absolutely loved it. They both want to go back on Friday night!’.
We are continually working on ideas and promotions to reach out to those in the local community who do not regularly go to matches, and with that in mind we are now making plans for the rest of our home matches this season.
While we would love to give every child in Portadown and beyond, access to our matches for free, we feel that this would devalue our product, while also excluding those who are older than primary school age. Many children, young people and families have also paid for their season tickets up front at the start of the season, which is something that we considered when moving forward.
Therefore, in order to be fair to as many people as possible, we are very pleased to announce that for the rest of this season, any young person under the age of 16 can watch Portadown home matches at Shamrock Park for only £1! (One pound).
Any paying adult (ticket or cash) or those with a season ticket, can bring up to 3 young people and pay just £1 cash for each of them at the turnstile upon entry.
We hope that with this KID FOR A QUID promotion now in operation for our home matches, it will give you, your family and friends, the best opportunity to come to Shamrock Park as often as possible in February, March and April to cheer on your Portadown team as they try to win as many points as possible between now and the end of the season!
