Shamrock Park played host last night to a packed audience within its club rooms with over 70 in attendance as supporters, politicans, local businesses along with players and management listened and watched on as Liam McStravick from Team Fee Pay presented plans for the future redevelopment of the stadium as well as outlining Portadown Football Club’s commitment to transforming its home into the hub of community sports activity in the town.

In his presentation Liam spoke at length about and displayed the club’s plans for a 3G pitch, a state of the art training facility contained within a dome structure which would be accessible to the wider community including schools and youth groups as well as a new 1,046 spectator stand to replace the old home stand which would also house hospitality facilities as well as community and business incubation spaces – he also offered updates and details on:

  • The online survey and community consultation process: key findings
  • A detailed overview of the planned new facilities and why they are needed
  • Next Steps and Timelines
  • How we plan to keep you updated with progress
  • How you can help as supporter / stakeholder

It was also emphasised at last nights public event that with planning submission getting very close it is key that the club are able to push ahead with the planning permission as this will place Portadown Football Club in a prime position to apply for funding as soon as it becomes available – these funding opportunities and avenues were discussed at length by Liam.

In regards to planning submission and permission, a number of surveys have already taken place with those considerable costs covered by the Board of Directors however additional surveys are expected which will require further considerable funding. To allow the club to overcome these financial hurdles we require the backing of all key stakeholders – that includes the clubs supporters, local community organisations and the local business community. To assist with this and as part of Portadown FC’s long term development vision, we have established a two tier (Indivdual & Business) Development Patron Scheme to help the club move forward with our ambitious plans for our home.
