Portadown Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Alan O’Sullivan from Warrenpoint Town on a permanent deal for the forthcoming season.
The 28 year old striker began his career with Home Farm in his native Republic of Ireland before joining Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen in 2012 and having subsequent spells at Shelbourne and Athlone Town before joining Warrenpoint Town from Malahide in January 2018.
The Dubliner has been capped at various levels for the Republic of Ireland from U16 up to U19 and has spent the last three months on loan at Portadown from Warrenpoint Town where he scored 3 times in 14 appearances
On O’Sullivan making the move to Shamrock Park a permanent one, Ports boss Niall Currie commented
We’re absolutely delighted to get Sully (Alan O’Sullivan) done, we obviously had him on loan for the second half of season with the intentions to sit down with him and sort something more permanent out at the conclusion of his loan.
He knows the situation the club is in in regards to dropping down to the Championship which meant unfortunately that things had to change in regards to what the club could offer him contract wise however he showed a willingness and keenness to take his hit like everyone has had to do so far which was refreshing to see – not only is he a top player, and we’re expecting big things from him once he gets a pre-season behind him, but he’s a wonderful person as well and that transcends into the dressing room.
A highly motivated Alan O’Sullivan, which we think we’re going to get, is going to have a real impact in the Championship and with him and Paul McElroy on board it puts us a long way towards the kind of goals we’re going to need.
We’re also delighted to welcome Oisin Conaty back into the fold in pre-season. I’ve kept in contact with Oisin & his father since I came into club & we’re pleased that he’s agreed to return, we think he’s a tremendous talent & has a massive future ahead of him. We believe he’ll make an impact within the squad & I personally can’t wait to work with him.
