Portadown Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Sam Cochrane.

Cochrane (20) arrives at Shamrock Park from Mid-Ulster Intermediate A side Richhill AFC where the young striker found the net 34 times in 40 games last season.

The Richhill native and boyhood Portadown supporter is the Grandson of former Ports player George Cochrane who won two Gold Cups with Portadown in 1933 and 1937 is also related to past Ports players John, Norman, Andy and Davy Cochrane as well as Denis Guy.

Sam has been handed the number 22 shirt for the coming season.

On bringing the talented forward to the club Portadown manager Niall Currie commented

We’re delighted to sign young Sam and give him this opportunity.

He has trained fantastically well and proved he can relax in this environment. We know he’s raw like so many others that have ended up doing very well, so we believe we have a talent in him to develop and progress and that’s what will happen now – the fact he is a local lad is just a great bonus.
