Portadown Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Kenny Kane this evening from Ballymena United.

Kane (24) joined Ballymena United in June 2019 from Coleraine and District Premier League side Dervock FC, where the striker netted 67 times during the 2018/19 season with his eye for goal catching the attention of then Sky Blues manager David Jeffrey, who brought him to the Showgrounds.

The Ballymoney native would go on to make 98 appearances and score 8 goals in his 4 years at Ballymena United before making the move to Shamrock Park.

On adding the striker to his ranks Portadown manager Niall Currie commented

Kenny is a player I have watched closely for many years, since he broke into the Ballymena United team as a kid. He’s scored goals throughout his young career and I’ll say now that he has came here as a striker, he now gives us that explosive option of his pace in behind and we feel he will be a fantastic option for us.

While one striker arrives at Shamrock Park another departs as we can confirm that Alan O’Sullivan has left the club by mutual consent.

The 28 year old striker joined Portadown initially on loan in January 2023 before making the move permanent in May, he scored 3 goals in 16 appearances during his time in a red shirt.

We’d like to place on record our thanks to Alan for his contributions and efforts during his time at Portadown and wish him every success for the future.
