Manager notes
Last week was a huge disappointment, but as I’ve said many times this league never surprises me. I actually thought our first half performance was the best we’d played all season and the most in control of a game we’ve been all season but the big disappointment was that the two goals we gave away were really really avoidable, very very naive of us but you’re always going to run that risk if you don’t take your chances when you’re on top and that is unfortunately what happened us last week. We need to be more clinical when we’re dominating a game and put our chances away which in turn takes the pressure off but it doesn’t excuse the goals we conceded.
This evening is like a real old style Irish League fixture, under the lights at Shamrock Park with a great club like Bangor visiting us. We know we’ll be the cup final and they’ll be well up for it, coming down and embracing the situation but regardless of the result last week I saw a lot of positives in the game, not the goals obviously, but in general there was a lot of positives so on we go.
We know this league is going to be a roller coaster all season and every game is going to be really tough but we’re going to focus and concentrate on ourselves and make sure we can be at the very best that we can be. We showed signs of that last weekend, a distinct improvement in the first half at Ballyclare to the first two games.
