Portadown are back in Playr-Fit Championship action tomorrow (2 December) when we face Dundela at Wilgar Park (Kick off 3pm).

Portadown come into the game off the back of a 3-2 win over Loughgall on Tuesday evening in the Mid Ulster Cup Semi Final while in league matters it was a 5-1 win over Newington at Shamrock Park last time out, Dundela on the other hand found themselves on the end of a 4-0 defeat to Ards at Clandeboye Park in their previous Playr-Fit Championship fixture.

So far this season Dundela have played 15 league games, winning 10, drawing 1 and losing 4 and currently sit third in the Playr-Fit Championship.

The last time the two clubs met was earlier this season, on 7 October, with Dundela picking up all 3 points in a 3-1 win at Shamrock Park thanks to goals from David McMaster, Jordan Jenkins and Andy Hall, Portadown replied through Ryan Mayse and also had Lee Chapman sent off.

For the last time the two clubs met competitively at Wilgar Park it’s back to November 2019 with the game ending 1-1, an Adam Salley penalty rescuing a point for the Ports in a game that was remembered for a world class save from Bobby Edwards. For the Ports last win on Dundela’s home patch it’s November 2018 and a 3-2 win with goals from Adam Salley (2) and Chris Lavery.

On tomorrows game Niall Currie commented

We had a wonderful night on Tuesday night but unfortunately it’s came with a consequence, Lee Chapman will be missing for Saturday with a hamstring injury, it’s so disappointing for us and him as he has been absolutely outstanding this last few months. Kenny Kane is doubtful with an ankle knock as well while Chris Rodgers is also definitely out but Eoin Bradley is available and I was pleased with him on Tuesday night as I felt he proved a real handful for Loughgall.

We know how difficult it’s going be down at Wilgar on a tight compact pitch, but we’re playing well and the boys have gave us their all and that’s the base of getting results. We focus on being the best we can, and if we can do that we’re a match for everyone in this league.
