Portadown are back in Playr-Fit Championship action tomorrow afternoon when we face Dergview at Shamrock Park, kick off 5:30pm.

It will be the first home game Portadown have had since 16 December 2023 with Niall Currie’s side coming into the game off the back of Tuesdays superb 1-0 win against Glenavon in the BetMcLean Cup Semi Final, in league matters the Ports were 2-1 winners over H&W Welders last time out thanks to a brace from Ciaran Dobbin. Dergview were on the end of a 3-1 defeat to Ballyclare Comarades at Darragh Park last Saturday in the Playr-Fit Championship.

So far this season Dergview have played 22 league games, winning 5, drawing 3 and losing 14 and currently sit 11th in the Playr-Fit Championship.

The last time the two clubs met was on 11 November 2023 with the Ports winning 4-1 at Shamrock Park thanks to goals from Eamon Fyfe, Eoin Bradley, Kenny Kane and Luke Wilson.

Dergview have only 1 win in their last 10 Championship fixtures but have held high flying Institute to a draw on two occasions during that run and have recently brought in Marc Walsh on loan from Ballymena United.

On tomorrows game Niall Currie commented

Obviously after the great night on Tuesday it’s so important we get back and totally focus on the most important thing and that’s the league. Spirits are fantastic, we have a few aches and pains obviously but with our schedule over the next week we have to be very careful.

Unfortunately Eamon Fyfe will miss tomorrow as he’s been really struggling with his knee and actually shouldn’t have played on Tuesday night but hopefully this will give him time to recover for Tuesday nights Mid Ulster Cup Final, Jack Henderson is suspended also and we will have to check how our skipper (Gary Thompson) feels as to play tomorrow as well as Tuesday in the Mid Ulster Cup Final would be 3 games in a week so we will have some chats.

We will not not be taking anything for granted as Dergview are fighting for their lives in the league so we know it’s always about us and how we approach these games. The big plus we have now is we have competition for places and if anything drops there’s the same quality to come in, and that unfortunately is where it went wrong around the Christmas period. We know we have to make sure we’re right, this is a huge month and will decide a lot of things

I can inform supporters that Eoin Bradley & Sam Cochrane have departed the club, we thank them both for their eforts during their time here. In regards to Sam it’s not what we wanted as we seen a development with him and a future here but unfortunately he got an offer he couldn’t refuse from Annagh United, he’s a great kid and we’re sorry to lose him but wish him all the very best.

With more families and community / youth groups visiting Shamrock Park on match days, the club has decided to re-launch our FAMILY AND COMMUNITY AREA. BLOCK B in the home stand has been designated as this area, a traditionally slightly quieter block and further away from opposition supporters. We recognise that football matches are noisy and passionate experiences for players and fans alike but we would also like children, families and community visitors of mixed abilities and needs to feel comfortable when they visit a match, for some, their very first football match.

Guidelines for supporters sitting in Block B will be clearly displayed at the front of that area and we encourage all patrons in the block to follow them:
