Portadown Football Club can confirm that Dave Marsden, along with his long term assistant Kirk Keery, have been appointed as our new reserve management team.

Dave and Kirk, who replace Andy Murdock, have been successfully leading the U18s for a number of years with Head Coach Dave Marsden commenting:

When the opportunity come along for Kirk and I to take the reserves it was a no brainer, it is a natural progression for both of us. The opportunity to work with this group of players again, having worked with them the last 2 seasons, is something we couldn’t turn down.

The NIFL phase is in a strong position with the coaching team pulling in the same direction with the same aim, to provide as many young players for the first team as we can. Kirk and myself are looking forward to playing our part in that and adding to the five players that have already had their opportunity this season at first team level.

With Dave and Kirk vacating their coaching roles with Portadown FC U18s, Jonny Scott makes the move from Crusaders U18s to replace them. Jonny has a proven track record of developing young players and said the following on his appointment

I’m delighted to have been approached and given another exciting opportunity at another massive club within NIFL football. After the first few weeks working together the boys have already shown signs of buying into what I want and expect and I look forward to helping the boys and the club moving forward.

Head of Phase Chris Wright added:

Getting the staff correct is vital to creating the right environment for player progression and in these appointments we now have an exciting group of coaches across the phase.

In Jonny we have someone who has worked with the best U18 players in the country and are pleased he has bought into what we what to do as a club, while Dave, with his superb assistant Kirk, is known to all as not only a top level head coach but also a massive fan of the club and his enthusiasm and passion for developing players for the club is infectious to everyone around.

Alongside these coaching additions I am pleased to announce our phase analyst, Callum Taylor. We are constantly aiming to offer the most professional environment to the players across the phase and in Callum we are lucky to have secured a top level analyst who offers the staff and players an opportunity to focus in on key video analysis, adding another layer to our player development.
