Portadown Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of central defender Brandon Diau.
The 6ft 6ins defender, a Congo Under-20 international, spent the first half of this season with Colwyn Bay and was with Flint Town United last season, where he made 30 appearances and scored four goals in the Cymru Premier.
The 30 year old began his footballing journey at Bayern Leverkusen, spending five years in their academy before being ultimately let go and moving on to Hamburg after impressing for local club Troisdorf.
Following his release from Hamburg in 2014 Diau has spent time in Israel with Hapoel Afula, Romania with Pandurli Targu Jiu and Iceland with Vikingur not to mention closer to home in England with Kidderminster Harriers, Truro, Billericay and Burgess Hill Town.
On making Shamrock Park his new home, Brandon commented
I’m very happy to be signing for Portadown. It feels like I’ve found a home and literally can’t wait to get started and helping get this team back into where they belong.
I’m looking forward to seeing the Portadown supporters in the games to come and hopefully can give them plenty to cheer about.
Portadown manger Niall Currie added
We’re delighted to welcome Brandon to the club, as everyone knows we have been exhausting all avenues in our pursuit of another dominant centre back and thankfully the great contacts in England and Wales we have were able to put us in touch with the big man.
His pedigree is there for everyone to see so we’re delighted to get him over the line and look forward to seeing him in our red.
Brandon is available for tomorrows trip to Wilgar Park against Dundela and will wear the number 5 shirt.
