Portadown Football Club are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with Danish international shipping and logistics company DFDS who become our new primary shirt sponsor in a 3 year deal which will commence at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

DFDS (Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab) was founded in 1866, when C.F. Tietgen merged the three biggest Danish steamship companies of that day, operations began on 1 January 1867 with 19 ships and Copenhagen as the main starting point.

Now, after the launch of logistics services in 1972, DFDS is established as one of the leading ferry and transport operators in Northern Europe, with approx. 14,500 colleagues, 66 logistics locations and 28 shipping routes.

In February 2023 DFDS completed the acquisition of the McBurney Transport Group headquartered in Northern Ireland as they focus on moving cold chain and dry goods in trailers by road and ferry between island of Ireland and the UK.

Their recently launched strategy, Moving Together to 2030, outlines the 5 strategic pillars that will steer them to 2030.  These include accelerating the green transition to meet ambitious net-zero goals, making DFDS a great place to work for every colleague and growing partnerships with customers.

Portadown FC General Manager, Mark Beattie, commented:

It is with great pleasure that we can announce a major partnership with DFDS.

An industry leader, their values align with our own in striving for success in all areas so we can’t wait to get working closely as we try to forge ahead both on and off the pitch. It is a great sign of the progress we have made as a club that a company the size and success of DFDS have agreed to a partnership and it is our intent to keep that level of growth consistent as we work together over the next period.

Carolyn Carmichael, Managing Director of DFDS N. Ireland (incorporating DFDS Belfast, McBurney Transport Group & Bondelivery):

We are delighted to be named as Portadown Football Club’s main sponsor for the next 3 seasons.

We have a close affinity to the Club through our principal consultant Paul Jackson, who is PFC’s vice chairman and admire how professionally the club is operated and the positive impact they have on the local community.

We firmly believe that this will be a successful partnership and look forward to promoting the DFDS brand through sponsorship of PFC and will endeavour to be a great support to the team and community as a whole
