Portadown Football Club is delighted to confirm that Eoghan McCawl has signed a new one year contract to remain at the club until the summer of 2025.

The 28 year old midfielder who has had spells at Hull City, St Johnstone, Glentoran and Ards before making the move to Portadown from Dundela in January 2023 made 40 appearances and scored 3 goals last season for the Ports as he played his part in Niall Currie’s side winning the Playr-Fit Championship, the Mid-Ulster Cup & reaching the final of the BetMcLean Cup.

On signing on at Shamrock for another year, Eoghan commented

I’m delighted to sign again for the up and coming season. With being involved in the disappointment of relegation in 2022/23 I felt as a player I owed Niall his staff and everyone involved with the club to bring Portadown back again to the Irish Premiership.

I’m already looking forward to seeing all the fans next season at Shamrock Park and hopefully adding more silverware along the way.

Ports boss Niall Currie added

We’re delighted Eoghan has agreed another year with us.

He was unlucky a few times with injuries but played a great part in us having that great run and was fantastic in the Premiership when we almost survived so we are expecting the same again.

A great player and person and that will do me all day.
