Portadown Football Club are pleased to confirm that Zach Cowan has signed a new one year contract with the club.

Zach (18) has come through the ranks at Shamrock Park, making his first team debut at the age of 15 against Warrenpoint Town in May 2021 and scoring his first senior goal for the club in the League Cup victory over Armagh City in September 2022.

The midfielder would spend 2023/24 on loan at NIFL Premier Intermediate side Dollingstown featuring on 5 occasions.

On Zach signing a new contract at the club, Portadown manager Niall Currie commented

Zach has been very unfortunate he sustained an injury during his first senior loan and returned to us and when he was able to train with us.

We believe Zach has a lot to offer and it is important as a club to give him the opportunity to do so. I must place on record my thanks to Hubert and Dollingstown for how well they looked after Zach.

We can also confirm that Igor Rutkowski will leave the club at the conclusion of his contract this summer.

The 19 year old joined the PFC Youth Academy at the age of 14 and would go on to progress through our National League sides to become an important and valued member of our NIFL Development and Reserve squads before having loan spells with Knockbreda and Armagh City.

Igor was part of the Portadown U18 team who won the 2021/22 Mid-Ulster Youth Cup with the Pole scoring a hat-trick in the final, he’s also picked up the Golden Boot trophy after finishing joint top scorer of the Premier Section of the 2022 SuperCupNI and would make his Portadown first team debut in October 2021.

We wish Igor every success going forward and thank him for his contribution to Portadown Football Club.
