Portadown Football Club can confirm that Brandon Diau and Ciaran Dobbin have both been released from their contracts to join Institute and Ards respectively.
Both players joined the club in January from Colwyn Bay and Dundela respectively with Brandon contributing 1 goal in 11 appearances while Ciaran made 12 appearances and scored 3 goals.
Brandon and Ciaran played their part in helping Portadown win the Playr-Fit Championship and securing promotion, with Brandon also featuring in our BetMcLean Cup final squad while Ciaran collected a Mid Ulster Cup winners medal.
On the the departures, Portadown manager Niall Currie commented
We wish Brandon every success, he came in and ended up making a great impact when desperately needed however unfortunately things haven’t kicked on in pre season and he found himself down the pecking order behind Lewis MacKinnon and Jack Duncan and like all players he wants to play.
He has left with a Championship medal and a BetMcLean Cup runners up one so he is now a part of our history and we thank him for last seasons contribution.
We would also like to wish Ciaran Dobbin the very best. We never really got to see the best of ‘Dobbie’, he came in and was fantastic and a match winner on his league debut against H&W Welders but unfortunately he got a nasty calf injury shortly after and hasn’t played enough football since, so we agreed that he go out, play and get himself back to his very best.
He’s another player who played his part in a memorable season last year for the club.
