Portadown Football Club are today delighted to announce that Lewis MacKinnon has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026. The 21-year-old has committed his future to the Ports after becoming a valuable member of Niall Currie’s squad over the last 7 months.
The centre back came through the youth ranks at Linfield before making the move to Rangers at the age of 16 in 2019, spending four years in Scotland. Lewis would progress to the Rangers B side and also represent Northern Ireland as a youth international up to Under 21 level before being released by The Gers in 2023 and returning home to sign for Carrick Rangers.
The Bangor native has made 21 apperances in a red shirt since signing in May, scoring his one and only goal against Crusaders back in September.
On signing a new deal at Shamrock Park, Lewis commented

This club has so much potential and the plans going forward are massive. I’m enjoying my time playing for such a great and historic club as Portadown as well as working with a brilliant set of staff and players.
I feel this is the best place for my development with the hard work continuing and time to kick on.
