The Ports return to action this Saturday (4th January) as we make the short journey to face Annagh United in the Irish Cup.

The Ports come into the game off the back of a 2-0 defeat at home to Glentoran while Annagh United come into the game off the back of a 4-3 win over Bangor.

The previous time the 2 sides met came on the 6th of April at Shamrock Park. The first half would prove to be a windy and close affair until the 41st minute when Annagh United midfielder James Convie broke into the Portadown box and was fouled by Ports winger Jamie Browne giving Annagh the chance to go ahead from the penalty spot which was taken by full back Nathan Kerr giving Annagh United a 1-0 lead.

That lead would be doubled 4 minutes later on the brink of half time when a free kick on the edge of the box which was taken by midfielder Ruairi McDonald powerfully passed the outstretched Aaron Hogg in the Portadown goal giving Annagh United a 2-0 lead going into the half time break.

8 minutes into the second half Annagh United score would again change when an Eoin Teggart corner was met by the wind and brought narrowly over the hand of goalkeeper Hogg to see Annagh United take a 3-0 lead going into the hour mark of the game.

The 4th goal Annagh United came in the 63rd minute when midfielder Ruairi McDonald took a touch inside from the left wing and slotted home past Ports keeper Hogg. A one two between Ports winger Ryan Mayse and fullback Lee Chapman seen the full back float a cross to the back post where it was met by the oncoming Mark Russell who headed past Craughwell. Not long later a short free kick taken by Ryan Mayse was received by Mark Russell with the winger putting a ball into the box which met the head of Ports midfielder Luke Wilson who headed home to give the Ports a second goal. However this was not enough as Annagh United ran out 4-2 winners Portadown.
