At Friday evenings End of Season Dinner we welcomed Bobby Carlisle, Martin Russell and Kyle Neill into the Portadown FC Hall of Fame.
Bobby Carlisle played for the club between 1969 and 1975, winning the Gold Cup in 1972 and being part of the squad that finished runners up in both the league and Irish Cup to Glentoran and Coleraine respectively. Bobby was also part of the Ports team who lifted the inaugural Carlsberg Cup in 1972 while losing out to Linfield in the Gold Cup Final.
Carlisle claimed another winners medal during his time at Shamrock Park in the 1973/74 season as Portadown defeated Bohemians 5-3 over two legs in the Texaco Cup Final and in 1974/75 played his part as Portadown progressed to the second round in European competition for the first time by defeating Valur Reykjavik 2-1 on aggerate in the first round of the UEFA Cup before succumbing 6-1 on aggerate to Partizan Belgrade.
Martin Russell played for the club between 1991 and 1998, making 301 appearances and lifting the League Cup, two Budweiser Cups, the Gold Cup and four Mid-Ulster Cups. He was also part of the Portadown squad who lifted the Premier League in 1995/96 however due to injury failed to make enough league appearances to pick up a winners medal.
The Dublin native won the Northern Ireland PFA Player of the Year in his first season at Shamrock Park and was also called up to the Republic of Ireland B squad during his time at the club, starting in a 2-0 win over Denmark B.
Kyle Neill played for the club between 2001 and 2006 and 2017 and 2019, making 244 appearances and winning the Irish League title, Irish Cup and two Mid Ulster Cups as well as representing the club eight times in European competition.
