Portadown Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Rhys Annett on a season long loan from Linfield.
The 20-year-old striker, who hails from Newtownards started his career with Ridgeway Rovers before moving on to Dundela, with current Ports boss Niall Currie handing him his senior debut against Linfield when he was 16 in a 6-1 Co. Antrim Shield defeat at Windsor Park. In total Rhys scored 12 goals in 43 appearances for the Duns.
Annett would sign for Linfield in January 2023, making his debut in March 2023. He would go on to sign a pro two-year contract extension in June 2023, scoring five goals in 26 appearances in his second season at the Blues – one of which came in the BetMcLean Cup final.
The talented striker signed a new two-year contract extension in March 2025 which sees him contracted to David Healy’s side until the summer of 2027. In total the young striker has scored 6 goals in 48 appearances for Linfield.

As everyone knows, I along with my backroom team have known Rhys for a few years and I gave him his Championship debut as a 16 year old at Dundela so he was well ahead of his time.
He’s now been in the great environment of Linfield as a full time player for three years and they have extended his contract again which tells you what they think of him. He’s a natural finisher and will add something completely different to what we have.
