It is with great sadness that Portadown Football Club has been informed of the passing of former player David Hanna, on 15th September in Melbourne, Australia.

Portadown beat of the advances of a number of clubs to secure the signing of David from Linfield in July 1987. During the 1987/88 season he finished top scorer for Portadown with 19 goals in 40 appearances. At the end of that season at the age of 24 he moved to Australia, making his home in Melbourne playing in the Victoria Premier League until the age of 36 before going into coaching. David passed away peacefully from motor neurone disease and is survived by his wife Debra, daughter Tess, brother John and 92 year old mother Rosena.

Portadown FC offers its sincere sympathies to the Hanna family at home and in Australia.
