Portadown Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Ben Quinn.
The 21 year old joins the club following spells at Celtic and Mansfield Town after initially starting his career with Cherry Orchard and St Patrick’s Athletic.
The Dubliner joined Celtic’s Academy in 2019 at the age of 15 after being courted by such clubs as Manchester City & Wolves, making the step up to the B Team during the 2022/23 campaign, and played a key role in the young Celts’ success including scoring a double at Ibrox in a 3-1 defeat of Rangers. He continued to be a regular performer for the young Hoops in the 2023/24 campaign, grabbing a number of impressive goals, including another Old Firm strike in a 3-0 win over Rangers in the Glasgow Cup and was rewarded with a new 2 year contract in 2023 – in total Ben scored 22 goals for Celtic B during his time at Celtic Park.
The attacking midfielder/right winger would make the switch to Mansfield Town in August 2024 under Nigel Clough and go on to make 6 first team appearances, scoring goals in the FA Cup and EFL trophy and incidentally would play alongside his uncle, former Sheffield United, Hull City and Republic of Ireland international, Stephen Quinn.
Ben has been capped from U15 to U18 level with the Republic of Ireland and in November, he was called up to the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for two friendlies against Sweden – featuring in the second.

We’re delighted to welcome Ben to our club. A huge thank you again to Shane (Dolan) as we have really struggled in the wide areas with the loss of Josh (Ukek) and Rayhann (Tulloch) from the start of the season, thankfully however Rayhann looks good to go now so that’s a huge plus.
Ben plays right across the front three so will be a huge asset. He’s had a serious shoulder operation but has been training fully with Bohemians since his decision to come home and is now ready to go.
He’s a Republic of Ireland U21 international and has ambitions of full time football across the water again so he’s knows he’ll get a great platform to shine at our club, a no lose situation for all parties and we’re delighted to have him.
On signing on the dotted line at Shamrock Park, Ben added
