Portadown welcome Ballymena United to Shamrock Park tomorrow afternoon (12th December) in the Sports Direct Premiership, 3pm kick off.
The last time the two sides met was back in August with the Sky Blues running out 2-0 winners at Shamrock Park thanks to goals from Ben Kennedy and Jack O’Reilly.
Ballymena United come to town under new management as Oran Kearney takes charge. His record against Portadown while Coleraine manager was superb with just one defeat in his last 15 league meetings (12 wins, 2 draws), including 10 clean sheets while on the other end of the scale Ports boss Niall Currie has struggled when pitted against Oran Kearney sides, losing his last 12 league meetings against him.
Poor recent form from Ballymena United saw Jim Ervin lose his job after 2 and a half years at the Showgrounds, they’ve only one win in their last eight league games (6 defeats, 1 draw) and three losses in their last four away trips, most recently at Glenavon. The Ports come into the game full of confidence after last weekends 3-0 win against Crusaders and duo Ben Wylie and Eamon Fyfe in goalscoring form with 3 goals each in their last 4 games.
The Ports have won four of the last six Premiership games against Ballymena United at Shamrock Park, with all four of those wins coming by a one goal margin and three of the four victories being a 1-0 score line.
