Portadown Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Gideon Tetteh.
The 20 year old winger started his career with Shamrock Rovers, coming through their U17 and U19 set up before progressing into the first team squad and going on to make 6 senior appearances including featuring in their 2022 Europa League campaign.
The Republic of Ireland U18 international would join Athlone Town on loan for the 2024 season, helping them to a fourth-place finish in the league table and qualification for the First Division Play Off Final. He would make the switch to Athlone permanent in February 2025 and made a total of 67 appearances for the club between 2024 and 2025, scoring 9 goals.
Gideon has been allocated squad number 14 and is eligible to make his debut in tomorrows Irish Cup tie with Annagh United.
On making the switch to the Ports, Gideon commented
I’m delighted to be here at such a big club and hope to contribute to the team and show what I can do.
Ports boss Niall Currie added
We’re delighted to get Gideon, he’s a young man with great potential.
He’s an exciting out and out wide player who can go past people and that’s exactly what we needed in terms of bolstering the squad.
Again, thank you to my board for their continued backing as we aim to improve the squad and kick on for the second half of the season.
