Portadown are back in Sports Direct Premiership action for the for the second of three home league fixtures in a week when we host Cliftonville at Shamrock Park this evening, kick off 7:45pm.
Portadown come into the game off the back of a superb 2-1 victory over Larne on Saturday while Cliftonville were beaten 3-2 by Dungannon Swifts on Friday evening at Stangmore Park in the live BBC iPlayer game.
Portadown and Cliftonville have met twice so far this season with Niall Currie’s side winning 2-1 at Solitude back in September thanks to goals from Eamon Fyfe and James Teelan, while Cliftonville picked up a 3-2 win at Shamrock Park in November.
Cliftonville come to Shamrock Park with only 3 league wins in their last 10 fixtures dating back to early December. Away from Solitude this season they’ve especially struggled to pick up maximum points, only collecting 3 wins from 12 away games with defeats at Bangor, Linfield, Dungannon Swifts (2), Crusaders and Glenavon. On the road the only sides Jim Magilton’s men have come away with the 3 points from are ourselves in November and two victories at Taylors Avenue against Carrick Rangers.
Portadown have a good recent record against Cliftonville, winning two of the last three home meetings.
